Pancake Day, also known as Shrove Tuesday, is the feast day immediately before Ash Wednesday which marks the start of the 40 days of Lent that lead up to Easter. At Woolston we have had lots of fun at making and decorating our pancakes, using the recipe and selecting our ingredients we needed we were able to measure the ingredients using the scales and helped cracking the eggs and pouring the milk to make the pancake batter. Once we had cooked them we used various ingredients from nutella to fresh fruit and a range of flavoured jam to decorate and taste. Pancake Day increased our knowledge and understanding of the world around us and familiar celebrations whilst also engaging our imagination, physical skill and mathematical skills through use of measuring and then distributing our ingredients and toppings. Our Pancakes tasted delicious!
