The children at Woolston made some chocolate brownies to enjoy for pudding after our tea of Quesadillas. We had a range of ingredients from cocoa powder, vanilla extract, eggs, flour, butter and they used various utensils to weigh, count and measure the ingredients correctly developing our mathematical skills and also using positional language. We talked about colours, taste and textures of the ingredients helping develop our creative and imaginative skills by the use of encouraging the use of our senses and descriptive words. This activity provided opportunity to also discuss food hygiene promoting wearing our aprons and ensuring our hands were clean before starting. The children really enjoyed preparing these delicious treats for after their tea and even more so enjoyed waiting for them to cook before being able to enjoy them. They tasted fabulous and everyone ate every little bit some even hoping there was some left over so they could have seconds!
