In January we have celebrated Winnie the Pooh Day which was the 18th January 2018. At Woolston we celebrated in the setting as a whole and our 2-3s had a bear week to extend this day. The 2-3s children had lots of various activities planned. They made Honey cake helping to collect, weigh, measure, mix and cook the ingredients to make a scrummy cake. This was delicious and they shared it with everyone at nursery, even the teddies came to try some. We had bear related stories which practitioners read and also the children to eachother, recalling events and specific language from the story. Most of these stories were also shared under our bear cave which we had made through a range of materials and props adding torches to help us see in the dark cave. Another of our favourite activities this week was Bear Ordering, putting the bears into size order from biggest to smallest and smallest to biggest. During the week we learnt lots of new skills whilst having lots of fun, developing our language skills, mathematic skills, knowledge and understanding and expanding our imaginative skills. Such a busy and exciting week!
